Mississippi State defensive lineman Nick James was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of public intoxication according to the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office.
James was arrested by the Starkville Police Department at 1:36 a.m. at Rick’s Cafe according to the sheriff’s office. He was released on bond.
MSU did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the arrest.
James, a senior, is expected to be a key member of MSU’s defensive front this season. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Long Beach native saw 10 starts at defensive tackle last season and played in all 13 games.
