MSU’s Fred Ross says he played through groin injury during record season

Mississippi State wide receiver Fred Ross had a record-breaking season in 2015, but it didn’t come easily.

One reason for that? A groin injury.

“About the whole season, I was hurt,” Ross told reporters Monday. “I was hurt the whole season. So I’m glad God blessed me, and the surgery went well, and I’m just ready to start this season.”

Ross, who had a school-record 88 receptions last season, later had surgery on the injured groin in March and missed all of spring practice.

Ross estimated that he was about “95 percent” recovered from the injury during Monday’s practice but noted that he didn’t feel pain.
