MSU matches highest ranking ever

Mississippi State has moved into the top 10 of The Associated Press women’s basketball poll for the first time in nearly 13 years.

The Bulldogs, who opened the season with a 68-47 win over Samford on Friday, jumped up one spot from their preseason ranking. The No. 10 ranking ties for MSU’s highest ever showing – it was ranked 10th late in the 2002-03 season.

Up next for Vic Scheafer’s team is a home game against Grambling State on Saturday.

UConn remains the No. 1 team in the poll, which was released today.

The Huskies open their season tonight when they visit No.
