To coincide with a “black out” at Davis Wade Stadium, the Bulldogs will don black jerseys for the first time in four years. The football equipment staff tweeted a picture of the jersey on Friday.
MSU owns a 1-2 record wearing black uniforms having first introduced a black jersey against Alabama in a 31-3 loss to Alabama in 2009. The Bulldogs wore an all black uniform the following year against LSU and lost 29-7.
State’s only win on the gridiron wearing a black uniform came in 2011 in a 26-20 overtime victory against Louisiana Tech in 2011.
