MSU Assistant Coach Tony Hughes to be Named Head Coach at Jackson State

The Clarion-Ledger is reporting that MSU’s assistant head coach, Tony Hughes, has agreed to become the next head football coach at Jackson State.

Congratulations to Coach Hughes who has been an assistant coach for 31 years, 27 of them in Mississippi as a high school, juco and major college coach. He has been an assistant at Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Mississippi State – spending the last seven years on Dan Mullen’s staff.

Hughes’ deep ties in the state of Mississippi have made him the program’s most valued recruiter during the span of the Mullen era.
