The school announced his decision via the athletic department website Tuesday afternoon.
“The past three years in Starkville have been unforgettable, and I am proud to be a part of the legacy that we created,” Jones said in the statement. “I want to thank my teammates and coaches, especially head coach Dan Mullen and defensive line coach David Turner, for giving me the opportunity to wear the maroon and white.”
Jones (6 feet 6, 308 pounds) was a five-star prospect out of high school in Houston, Miss., and was a key contributor along the defensive line since entering the program in 2013.
