Mississippi State opens fall camp August 1, and all eyes likely will be on the four-man quarterback battle. You have to feel a bit for the quartet in the running for the job: It’s not often that you’re asked to replace perhaps the best player in school history.
But there are other position battles that must be settled before the September 3 season-opener against South Alabama.
Here’s a look at Mississippi State’s three biggest position battles in fall camp.
3. Boundary cornerback
The participants: Senior Tolando Cleveland vs. senior Cedric Jiles.
The skinny: After losing Will Redmond and Taveze Calhoun to graduation, the Bulldogs need two new corners.
