Mississippi State to introduce Bully XXI on Saturday

STARKVILLE -- Mississippi State will introduce its new mascot Bully XXI on Saturday at the Bulldogs' spring football game.

The six-month Jak, a registered English Bulldog, will be introduced as part of Super Bulldog Weekend. He will replace his father Bully XX -- also known as Champ -- and the two will take the field together for a ceremonial "passing of the harness."

The school says Champ, 9, is still in good health but nearing retirement age. Mississippi State mascot handler Lisa Pritchard said Champ won't make any more public appearances.

Jak's formal name is "Cristil's Golden Prince.
