Mississippi State’s tennis team has had its fair share of success this season, and today was no different. In the First Round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament, Mississippi State knocked off SMU in Norman, Oklahoma on Friday afternoon.
The 18th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs (21-8) cruised to a 4-0 victory over SMU (13-12) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Doubles started off shaky for the Bulldogs, but the end result has the Bulldogs heading towards the Second Round of the tournament. State went 1-1 in the first two doubles matches, and the sophomore duo of Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic had to fight from behind a 6-5 deficit to clinch the double point with a tiebreaker victory, 7-6.
