Mississippi State Survives Against UIC to Keep Their Season Alive

The Mississippi State baseball team defeated the University of Illinois-Chicago 5-4 in an elimination game this afternoon in Hattiesburg. Mississippi State lead 5-1 heading into the bottom of the 8th, but a late surge by the Flames made things interesting.

MSU ace Konnor Pilkington pitched well for most of the game, allowing just 1 run through 7 innings with 9 Ks, but a shaky 8th inning (3 runs allowed) ended his day. Closer Spencer Price came in early in the 8th to try and finish things off, but Head Coach Andy Cannizaro ultimately turned to reliever Riley Self to secure the Bulldogs’ victory.
