Mississippi State loses its defensive coordinator

Mississippi State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz has left to become the DC at Miami for new coach Mark Richt.

This was Diaz’s second go-round as the Bulldogs’ coordinator; just like his first stint, this one lasted only one season. He was Mississippi State’s DC in 2010, then left for Texas. He was hired following the 2014 season off the staff of Louisiana Tech.

Diaz, 41, is a Miami native; his dad, Manny Sr., is a former mayor of Miami.

Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen again will be looking for a defensive coordinator. The position has been a revolving door in his tenure.
