STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a 10-1 loss on Saturday, the Diamond Dawgs look to avoid a clean sweep in their Southeastern Conference series opener.
Following Saturday’s loss, MSU fell to 10-9 and 0-2 in the SEC, while Vanderbilt improved to 14-5 and 2-0 in the SEC.
Vanderbilt took a 1-0 lead the first inning, but the game was dominated by pitchers for most of the game.
The score would remain the same through seven frames, but the pitcher’s dual took a 180-degree turn, and was turned into a blowout, as the Commodores scored seven runs in the eighth inning.
