JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- No. 3 seeded Mississippi State knocked Vanderbilt out of the 2016 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament with a 63-46 victory on Friday. Mississippi State got out to an early lead but the Commodores fought back to end the quarter down 12-6. Chinwe Okorie led the scoring for the Bulldogs with 6 points, 3 rebounds.
The Commodores cut the lead to as little as 1 in the 2nd quarter but the Bulldogs pulled ahead 27-21 by the end. Mississippi State's Morgan William led Bulldog scoring in the 2nd with 5 points, including a 3.
Vanderbilt's Minta Spears and Christa Reed added 3's for the Commodores in the 3rd but Mississippi State began to pull away, ending the quarter up 41-32.
