Early on in Dan Mullen’s time in Starkville, the Bulldogs had a few tight ends that were used a bit. But, Mississippi State football didn’t feature much production from the tight end position over the past couple years.
Joe Moorhead will have an opportunity to change that this season.
Back at Penn State, Moorhead certainly utilized his tight end options there. Mike Gesicki led the Nittany Lions in passes caught in 2017. With 57 receptions, 563 receiving yards, and 9 touchdowns, Gesicki was an incredible option for Penn State’s offense.
Mississippi State may not necessarily get that sort of production from its tight ends in 2018, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone if Moorhead’s offense should generate more offense from the position this year.
