NEW ORLEANS — The Mississippi State football team opened the 2019 season with a 38-28 win over Louisiana at Mercedes-Benz Superdome Saturday afternoon.
MSU (1-0) scored 21 unanswered points in a 17:24 span during the second, third and fourth quarters. Louisiana (0-1) then scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to come within one score with 2:45 left in the game before a 37-yard field goal by junior kicker Jordan Lawless locked in a Bulldog win.
MSU used six plays in its opening drive to make it a 7-0 game after senior Tommy Stevens found junior Osirus Mitchell for a 31-yard touchdown pass.
