Vic Schaefer and his Mississippi State basketball team had a close encounter with a tough Oklahoma State squad. The Cowgirls of Oklahoma State challenged MSU’s offense all night, but the Bulldogs’ starters pushed through and overcame, ultimately winning by 15 points, 71-56.
Oklahoma State threw punches early at MSU, and the Cowgirls claimed a 20-16 lead after the first quarter. MSU weathered the storm however. The Bulldogs pushed back on OK State in the second quarter and moved the game to a 35-34 advantage for Mississippi State at the half.
Schaefer’s team extended that lead in the third quarter by outscoring Oklahoma State 20-11, giving MSU a 55-45 advantage.
