TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second straight game, Mississippi State and Alabama played in extra-innings. After Friday’s 14-12 win in 10 innings, the Diamond Dawgs played 10 innings again, ending up on the wrong end this time, falling 4-3 Saturday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Keith Holcombe’s RBI-single in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Alabama the 4-3 win in the middle contest of a three-game Southeastern Conference series.
With the loss, MSU falls to 25-22 (10-13 SEC), while Alabama improved to 24-24 (6-17 SEC).
Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after the bases were loaded on three walks with another walk sending home a run.
