Mississippi State will renew its rivalry with Southern Miss, as the programs announced an agreement on a three-game series Tuesday.
The first matchup will be September 7, 2019, in a guarantee game for Southern Miss; the amount that USM will receive for its trip to Starkville has not been made public. Mississippi State also will host the second matchup on September 23, 2023, then travel to Hattiesburg for the third game on September 14, 2024.
The teams have played 29 times — the first meeting was in 1935 — and the series is 14-14-1. They most recently played in 2015, which was the second game of a two-year home-and-home series.
