Junior right-handed pitcher Dakota Hudson set the tone early as Maroon dominated Gray by a score of 8-2 in Game 3 of the Bulldog World Series to sweep the annual fall classic. The seven-inning exhibition took place Saturday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field and marked MSU’s 18th fall scrimmage.
After winning both Game 1 and 2 in the final inning, Maroon controlled the game from the start thanks to 3 2/3 innings of shutout baseball from Hudson. The righty recorded the win with a fall-high six strikeouts, allowing zero walks and two hits. Freshman lefty Kale Breaux surrendered two runs on a two-out double in 2 1/3 innings following Hudson, before transfer Blake Smith picked up the save with two strikeouts in a scoreless seventh.
