A day after being selected as a third team All-American by Baseball America, Mississippi State right fielder Jake Mangum was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Mangum becomes the first freshman in school history to be named an All-American since Jonathan Holder in 2012.
The Pearl native also earned the Ferriss Trophy and SEC Freshman of the Year honors after leading the conference with a .418 batting average. That average is good enough for fourth nationally and tops among freshmen.
Overall on the year, Mangum has racked up 82 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, one home runs, 27 RBIs and six stolen bases.
