BATON ROUGE, La. — The Mississippi State men’s basketball team experienced a heartbreaker Saturday night, falling to LSU 60-59 on a buzzer-beating jumper by Tigers senior guard Skylar Mays at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
MSU falls to 9-6 (0-3 SEC), while LSU improves to 11-4 (3-0 SEC).
Tied up 6-6 with 15:30 left in the first half, LSU scored the next six points to go up 12-6. The Tigers then got their lead up to 11 points at 23-12 with 8:56 to go.
A 10-2 run by the Bulldogs allowed State to draw within three points at 25-22 with 2:36 left in the first stanza.
