Nathaniel Lowe will not be returning to Mississippi State next season.
The junior first baseman announced via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon that he had signed a contract and was ready to begin his career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Rays drafted Lowe in the 13th round (390th overall) last Thursday.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder from Marietta, Georgia spent one season with the Bulldogs where he started all 63 games batting .348 with a team-high 86 hits and 20 doubles. Lowe also hit five home runs, drove in 49 runs and had two stolen bases and committed just two errors.
