Mississippi State will be without senior catcher Josh Lovelady for the remainder of the season.
John Cohen confirmed Tuesday night that an MRI revealed that Lovelady had torn ligaments in his knee backing up first base on the first pitch of the game this past Friday night against UMass Lowell.
“It’s just a real shame,” Cohen said. “That kid has worked so hard. He was starting on Friday nights for us because he deserved to and just a freak thing happened. We think he will have a redshirt available so hopefully we’ll have him back for next year.
