STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State freshman pitcher JT Ginn was named Co-National Freshman Pitcher of the Year and a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Magazine on Wednesday.
Ginn enjoyed a successful freshman campaign, posting an 8-4 record in 16 starts on the mound. The Brandon, Mississippi native becomes the first Diamond Dawg to be honored with a national freshman of the year honor and the 36th Freshman All-American in program history.
The right-hander’s eight wins are tied for the MSU freshman record for pitching victories. He also became just the second MSU freshman pitcher credited with the 100-strikeout milestone, joining Eric DuBose who accomplished the feat during the 1995 season.
