Mississippi State junior defensive tackle Chris Jones was placed on the watch list for the Outland Trophy on Friday.
The Outland Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s top interior lineman. A total of 81 players were selected to the watch list including 16 from the Southeastern Conference.
Jones appeared in all 13 games for the Bulldogs last season. The 6-foot-6, 308-pounder from Houston, finished with 26 tackles including 3.5 for loss, three sacks, two pass deflections and eight quarterback hurries.
Six to seven semifinalists will be named on Nov. 19. Five days later, three finalists will be picked and the winner will announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec.
