ESPN.com said police in Macon, Miss., have charged Simmons — a five-star defensive end — with two misdemeanors: disturbing the peace and assault.
A Mississippi State spokesman told the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger that the school was aware of the situation. “As more details become available, we will continue to evaluate the situation,” the spokesman told the newspaper.
Per the Clarion-Ledger, WCBI-TV in Columbus, Miss., reported that Simmons was arrested Monday morning by Macon Police.
The video was released via Facebook on Friday and showed an incident from Thursday.
