Jefferson on Hendricks Award watch list

Mississippi State senior A.J. Jefferson has been selected to the watch list for the Ted Hendricks Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top defensive end.

The award takes into account the players on field performance, leadership abilities and contributions to the school and community.

The 6-foot-3, 280-pounder from Summitt started all 13 games for the Bulldogs last season and led the team with 13.5 tackles for loss. Jefferson finished with 47 total tackles, five sacks, three pass deflections and a forced fumble.

A midseason watch list will be released in late November and a winner named on Dec.
