Former Mississippi State coach Jackie Sherrill was one of six people inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
Sherrill, a Biloxi, Mississippi native and the winningest coach in Mississippi State history, won a school-record 75 games during his 13-year tenure with the Bulldogs. He compiled a 180-120-4 career record (75-75-2 at Mississippi State) across 26 seasons as a head coach, which also included stops at Washington State, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M.
“To the state of Mississippi, there’s no question I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be here with this honor tonight,” Sherrill said during his induction speech.
