Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons said he has had to “live and learn” after the moment that brought him into the forefront of the discussion of violence against women.
Simmons discussed last year’s violent incident with the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger during his first media appearance in a year.
Simmons, then a five-star prospect who had just signed with Mississippi State, was caught on video getting involved in an altercation that involved his sister and another woman, striking the latter woman multiple times. One year later, Simmons said he struggled to believe the person on the video, widely circulated on the Internet, was really him.
