Mississippi State lost 40-38 to Kentucky on Saturday night, dropping the Bulldogs to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in the SEC. It’s the worst start to a season for the Bulldogs since 2008, when Sylvester Croom was still at the helm of the program.
What makes it even worse for the Bulldogs is that for the third time this season, the Bulldogs dropped a decision on the game’s final play. Kentucky’s Austin MacGinnis nailed a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give the Wildcats their fourth win in the past five games.
Earlier this season, Mississippi State lost on a touchdown in double-overtime at BYU and missed a last-second field goal to fall to South Alabama in the season opener.
