Mississippi State will be without freshman right-hander Noah Hughes for the remainder of the season. Hughes will undergo Tommy John surgery on Thursday.
“That’s really going to hurt our club,” said Mississippi State coach John Cohen. “It’s just a shame because he’d pitched so well for us. He’ll have the surgery, rehab and hopefully we’ll get him back for next year.”
The Jackson native made eight relief appearances with an 8.22 ERA, six strikeouts and four walks in 7 2/3 innings of work.
Hughes’ last outing was last week against UT Martin where he pitched 2/3 of an inning and issued a walk.
