Hudson inks $2 million deal with Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals announced the signing of first round draft pick Dakota Hudson on Saturday.

The former Mississippi State pitcher inked a $2 million deal with the Cardinals after being selected 34th overall in last week’s MLB Draft. The slot value for the pick was $1.878 million.

The All-American right-hander from Dunlap, Tennessee made 17 starts for the Bulldogs as a junior and finished with a 9-5 record and a 2.55 earned run average. Hudson led the team with 115 strikeouts and 113 innings pitched.

Hudson is the 13th first round draft pick MSU history and third under John Cohen.
