From the five-star defensive lineman’s surprising decision to commit to Mississippi State to the off-field trouble that resulted in an arrest, the past year for Simmons has been a true roller coaster.
GN caught up with Simmons’ high school coach, Tyrone Shorter, of Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County, to talk about what Simmons was like in high school, his decision to head to Starkville and the video seen around the nation.
That video, which surfaced in March, showed Simmons punching a woman in a street fight.
