Former Mississippi State infielder Seth Heck has signed an independent league contract with the Gateway Grizzlies.
Heck started at shortstop in his Frontier League debut on Saturday against another former Diamond Dog, Jaron Shepherd, of the Rockford Aviators. Heck went 1-for-3 with an infield single in the Grizzlies’ 3-2 win in 10 innings.
Heck lettered two seasons at MSU and hit .287 with four doubles and 12 RBIs as a senior this past season. He was a also two-time SEC Student-Athlete of the Year.
