Mississippi State’s Jake Mangum became the first freshman to receive the C Spire Ferriss Trophy, which is presented annually to the top college baseball player in Mississippi.
Mangum beat out teammates Dakota Hudson and Reid Humphreys for the award as well as other finalists J.B. Woodman of Ole Miss and Will Robertson of Delta State.
“There are so many people in the state of Mississippi who deserve this,” Mangum said. “Mississippi baseball is what it is because of people like (Boo Ferriss), and we thank you for that.
