Former Mississippi State wide receiver Chris Smith was shot and killed Friday night in his hometown of Meridian.
According to WTOK, Meridian police responded to a call that someone had been shot at Frank Berry Courts Friday around 10:45 p.m. Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose confirmed that the shooting victim was Smith and had died.
Smith led Meridian win the 2008 Class 5A state championship alongside future college teammate and quarterback Tyler Russell. He was a part of Dan Mullen‘s initial signing class at MSU as a four-star prospect.
Smith played in 50 games for the Bulldogs from 2009-12 where he caught 130 passes for 1,422 yards and six touchdowns.
