Former Mississippi State wide receiver Chris Smith was shot and killed Friday night in Meridian, Mississippi, according to WTOK.
Meridian police chief Benny Dubose confirmed that Smith was the fatal victim in the incident. Police are still searching for a suspect.
The shooting took place around 10:45 p.m., at the Frank Berry Courts apartment complex on 8th Street, police told WTOK.
Smith, 26, was a Meridian native who played four seasons at Mississippi State from 2009-12. A former three-star recruit, Smith caught 130 passes for 1,422 yards and six touchdowns during his Bulldogs career.
