Former Mississippi State QB Elijah Staley transferring to junior college

Former Mississippi State quarterback Elijah Staley will transfer to Tyler Junior College, he announced Wednesday on Twitter.

Staley, a redshirt sophomore, announced last Friday that he was transferring. He will two years of eligibility remaining after this season.

The 6-foot-6, 249-pound Staley was a part of a four-man quarterback competition this offseason to replace three-year starter Dak Prescott. His departure narrows the list down to three – redshirt sophomore Nick Fitzgerald, redshirt junior Damian Williams and redshirt freshman Nick Tiano.

“We would like to thank Elijah for his contributions to our football team,” Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen said in a statement last week.
