STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi State baseball team opened up the 2019 season this weekend with a three-game sweep against the Youngstown State Penguins at the new Dudy Noble Field.
The Diamond Dawgs played one game Friday and a double-header Saturday to begin the 2019 season under first-year head coach Chris Lemonis.
FRIDAY’S GAME: The Diamond Dawgs began the season slow, but some late game offense pushed MSU past Youngstown 14-3.
Starting pitcher Ethan Small struck out the first five batters he saw as both teams failed to score a run through three frames.
