Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said Tuesday that the status of five-star freshman defensive end Jeffery Simmons should be resolved by the end of this week. Simmons was charged with assault and disturbing the peace after punching a woman during a fight in March – a fight that was captured on video and posted on Facebook.
Mississippi State freshman football players are expected on campus Wednesday and set to begin classes Thursday. Steve Robertson, who covers Mississippi State for scout.com, tweeted a picture of Simmons’ student ID, then removed the tweet. There has been no other report of Simmons’ enrollment.
