Dak Prescott’s preseason play ends Cowboys’ backup QB search

It looks like the Dallas Cowboys have their insurance policy in case of injury to Tony Romo – and his name is Dak Prescott.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on Dallas-area radio station 105.3 The Fan that the team has finished searching for a backup quarterback after the rookie Prescott’s performances this preseason.

Asked if the Cowboys had stopped looking for a veteran backup, Jones responded, “Yes. Unquestionably,” according to the Dallas Morning News.

Prescott, a former Mississippi State quarterback who was selected by Dallas in the fourth round of April’s NFL Draft, has performed well in each of his first two preseason games, one of which included a start in place of Romo who sat out to rest.
