Mississippi State junior left-hander Vance Tatum threw three scoreless innings as Maroon picked up a 7-1 win against Gray Saturday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field. The five-inning exhibition marked MSU’s second scrimmage of the preseason.
Tatum picked up the win with three strikeouts, walking none and surrendering just one hit. Also having shutout outings were junior right-hander Reid Humphreys, junior righty Logan Elliot and freshman lefty Jared Padgett.
True freshman outfielder Jake Mangum (2 for 3, SB) started the scoring with a two-out single through the right side in the bottom of the second.
