There was always a running joke between former Mississippi State pitcher Brandon Woodruff and former MSU head baseball coach and now athletic director John Cohen. Cohen always told Woodruff that by the time the hurler turned 25 years old, he’d be a big leaguer.
Ultimately, Woodruff beat Cohen’s expectations. He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Milwaukee Brewers at age 24 back during the 2017 season. Now, less than two years since then, not only is Woodruff a big leaguer, he’s a National League all-star and will likely make his first-ever appearance in MLB’s midsummer showcase Tuesday night in the 6:30 p.
