Cleveland calls Collins’ name in 13th round

Two picks after Nathaniel Lowe came off the board, another Mississippi State player heard his named called as well.

Junior third baseman Gavin Collins was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round (392nd overall). The Indians drafted Collins’ as a catcher.

Collins has started 59 games this season but only two behind the plate. The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder from Lake Forest California leads MSU with 10 home runs and is also batting .300 with 13 doubles, a triple and 38 RBIs.

Collins was the first Bulldog to be drafted by the Indians since Joseph Hunter in 2005.
