Clerical error to blame for Stapleton arrest

Xavian Stapleton was pulled over for speeding and was arrested for driving with a suspended license on campus last Saturday.

As it turns out, a clerical error by the Ouachita Parish District Attorney’s Office in Monroe, La., is to blame. Stapleton was granted an extension on his previous traffic citation on March 17, 2015 and paid the amount in full on March 31, 2015.

The new date was never updated in the computer system which caused Stapleton’s license to be suspended but has since been corrected.

The 6-foot-6 guard from Flora transferred from Louisiana Tech to State last month and will sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules.
