Cardinals ink MSU signee Robbins

Walker Robbins becomes the second signing class casualty for Mississippi State.

The St. Louis Cardinals signed the George County standout to a $450,000 contract on Thursday. Robbins was selected in the fifth round (166th overall), a pick that had a slot value of $315,600.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound southpaw was the Class 6A Player of the Year after hitting .477 with nine doubles, three home runs and 16 RBIs. Robbins also went 8-2 on the mound with a 0.67 ERA and threw two no-hitters and a perfect game.

The Cardinals drafted Robbins as an outfielder.
