Mississippi State quarterback Garrett Shrader jumped into the air. With all his might, Shrader was doing all he could to keep the game alive for the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at Davis Wade Stadium. On a fourth-down play, he lunged for a first down, was catapulted into the sky on a pair of hits by Kansas State defenders, then twisted and turned like a helicopter’s propellor. Then, after flying so high, Shrader came crashing back down to earth. He was a yard shy. The effort was there. The desired result was not.
It was a fitting moment in a game that saw Mississippi State have moments of highs, but also devastating lows as the Bulldogs fell to Kansas State 31-24.
