KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Fans hadn’t even sat down in their seats yet at Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium on Saturday when the opening kickoff of the game bounced off the hands of Mississippi State kick returner Brian Cole II. Cole couldn’t field it cleanly. By the time he picked it up, he was swarmed around his own 9-yard line. It was far from an ideal start for the Bulldogs. Problem was, things didn’t get much better moving forward and MSU was turned away in a 20-10 loss to the previously-struggling Volunteers.
“It’s tough,” Mississippi State quarterback Garrett Shrader said.
