Austin Riley became the first player with Mississippi State ties to be selected in the 2015 MLB Draft.
The DeSoto Central pitcher/ third baseman and Bulldogs signee was selected 41st overall by the Atlanta Braves in lottery round A on Monday.
Riley hit .423 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI as a senior helping lead the Jaguars to the 6A State Championship. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound right-hander also went 7-2 on the mound with a 2.70 earned run average, one save, 82 strikeouts and 19 walks in 59.2 innings.
