The Mississippi State quarterback is coming off a record-setting junior campaign that saw the Bulldogs rise to No. 1 in the country for five weeks. He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting after being in the discussion for most of the season.
He picked up his first honor of the preseason Monday, as he was selected to the Phil Steele Preseason All-American third team.
The Haughton, La., native passed for 3,449 yards and 27 touchdowns last year. He rushed for 986 yards and another 14 scores.
